So this past weekend I took two whole days away from my current novel and non fiction book.
Instead I decided to refill my creative well by learning how to use Procreate.
I’ve been inspired by a couple of TV shows, Sky Arts – Portrait Artist of the Week, and Grayson’s Art Club, with the inimitable, wonderful Grayson Perry.
So I grabbed a big mug of tea, settled in to watch some You Tube tutorials and starting my learning journey. WOW! Procreate is really clever!
I’m hoping that my skills over time will build to the stage where I might even be able to create some of my own book illustrations.
If you’re interested in learning how to use the app, and get drawing, creating, illustrating, I’d definitely recommend Bardot Brush. Check out her You Tube or website.
I’ve a long way to go, but this month I’m committing to not only writing everyday but also drawing everyday too. I’m taking part in her ‘People Drawing’ challenge.
Writing:
– started plotting another children’s book, building on an idea about an owl I had a while back…watch this space.
– still practising with my dictaphone, it’s a whole new skill, but little bits each day are helping. Weirdly I seem to be better first thing, and with my eyes closed, which doesn’t bode well for dictating out and about!
– launched my Creative Writing Prompts free ebook on my website
– chipping away at my thriller
– sorted the chapter plan and format for my non-fiction
The image is me drawing my very first Procreate creation. I’m thrilled with it, and yes it’s simple but that’s the point, build on solid foundations!
I’d love to hear how you refill your creative well. Also has lockdown made you more, or less creative?
(Gorgeous Patrons, you are seeing this a week before it goes public)
