I’ve been a blogger since 2016 and trust me it’s been a journey.
You never know everything
The industry is online, so it shifts and pivots like a constant rollercoaster.
As a constant learner and a passionate lover of words, I have enjoyed the entire experience. From dropping one line updates on life, book reviews through to in-depth pieces about my travels. All the while of course helping you build your own writing life.
I am now building my presence on Medium
Like you, I read all the posts about six-figure incomes and look with dismay at my own earnings. But I know it’ll change.
One thing I’ve found in my weekly trawl of helpful posts and learning opportunities is how to improve my blog titles.
Those pesky keywords are a constant joy aren’t they!
Trends come and go. If you aren’t careful, you can spend way too long trawling the black hole of the web from keywords searches to cats on skateboards, rather than actually producing content.
I’m an author. I write books and want to write more. To do that, I need to focus. I don’t have time to write, edit and publish if I am knee deep in what you can call research but I often call doom scrolling.
And don’t even mention the time suck I’ve found in the glorious Tiktok! Boy, I love it but wow where does the time go!
So, back to the topic.
How to improve your blog visibility
Get the title right.
Simple eh?
Well, thanks to the wonderful, generous writer U-Ming Lee I have yet another tool in my ever-growing bloggers toolbox.
Co-Schedule’s headline analyser
Before you ask, no I’m not affiliated with it, I’ll look at that next. You don’t need to remind me as a blogger I should have looked at that option before writing this, but I couldn’t wait.
I needed to share this brilliant little aka HUGELY helpful tool. I’ll definitely be adding it to my website tool box page.
Oh, did I mention it’s FREE?
Yes, of course you can upgrade but you don’t need to.
How to use it
You just paste in your proposed title, and it’ll give you a score. It rates variables like ‘skimmability’ yes I love that word too. Also, sentiment, clarity etc then it serves you up with a percentage score.
You can take its recommendations and update or edit until you find the right mix of words in the right order.
One of my recent posts dropped from 76% to 62% by changing just one word, it’s that simple.
It won’t replace necessary marketing options or ad spend, but it could get a few more eyes on your work, and that’s good enough for me.
I love it.
Why not give it a go and let me know how you get on?
Next time you’re writing your post, or maybe even book title, run it through the analyser and see whether you are on track for views.
