We are on the sixth of July 2021 Episode 47, about goal setting, and why it’s going to stop you striving for things and make instead. So it’s not all about setting stretch goals. This one’s a practical exercise so grab a paper and a pen, and after my intro we’ll dive in intro. Got another book out on and I’ve actually ordered a paperback version now from a vanity shelf. If you are a writer, I’m sure that you’ve probably got one as well and there’s no shame in having a balanced shelf, which is basically a book shelf with your books that you’ve written, and it’s just a nice, a pat on the back really, when you publish through Kindle paperback is print on demand, so there’s no waste of resources, they’re only printed as and when people buy them, which is great from an eco perspective, but also it means that I can order my own paperbacks when a population to reduce rate which is great so they’re going to be on my bookcase soon. And for the month of July. I’ve also reduced my freelance writer rates. Not on my secret pen name, but on Christy Adams, and if you know anybody who wants to blog post writing or an article for publication, check out merata page on my website, because like I say I’ve reduced my prices there, so they might get a bit of a bargain this month is only going to last for July. And I’ve been editing been editing my novel. I got through about 15 chapters in one day so that was really good and I’m using a tool called Pro writing aid, which I’m finding really helpful if you haven’t tried that yet, I’d recommend getting touch if you want to win. And I’ve also reviewed or I am reviewing all my financial goals. Our follower lady on YouTube. And I really like her work. And she’s got a really good practical sense of financial goals, which is something I’ve always, always struggled with a little bit in the past, to be very specific, and she breaks it down a really good way so if you’d like a link to that video. I’ll drop it in the show notes, and you can have a look at that as well because I think it’s a really good way of tying down your financial goals and assessing what’s necessary. We all need money to live, it’s no shame in that. And back to the topic of stopping striving. Start thriving but using the goal setting as a way to do that. We’re halfway through the year to start in July, but we’re also just starting the second financial quarter. So it’s the ideal time to revisit your goals that you set at the beginning of the year. And I want you to either get out your old goals or pull up the spreadsheet, do whatever. But I want you to find a way of getting those goals, up or down to 10 goals. I want you to do the manifesting feeling of writing them down in the present tense. So instead of, I will achieve. You know, I have achieved, or I have reached or I am making positive statements. And then this is something you may have seen in other courses because it’s something so basic, our goals are to merely pick one. Pick the one out of those 10 that would make the biggest impact right now. If you’re short of money obviously pick one that would make the biggest financial impact. If you’re struggling with mindset, the one that would shift your mindset, so you get the idea and pick one, get another piece of paper to turn your page in your journal, and break it down into bite sized chunks. throughout that goal, took the page, write down all the action steps reverse engineer if you need to go backwards, you know, how are you going to get there, how are you going to, this is how this financial goals is how she works it out as well, reverse engineer it, which means breaking it down from the end backwards to today. Let’s break it up into bite sized chunks or deadlines to them and take some action today take positive action on that goal today and get that first step done. Alright so you’re not striving, you’re taking positive action and you thrive in because you know that you will have achieved something by the end of today. If you’re struggling with accountability, and you’re one of these people who procrastinate so you have things written down, but you never seem to get anywhere and he could just do with a voice going up don’t get

a beat it. Yeah, well I can be that little voice so we could work together. So just think maybe in a month’s time how great it would be if he could say I’ve actually achieved that. And that’s what I do I break down things into a month, two months, three months chunks, and we work together on that. So if that’s something you’re interested in getting into, and obviously I’ve got a free ebook about thriving in midlife as well on our website, so go download that and have a look at that and see if that helps kickstart something. My book recommendation as always give a book recommendation and this methodical bit deep. Okay sweet Robert CBT techniques for retraining your brain. And the book I read, there’s quite a few books out there but the book I’ve read is by Jason Setterfield. It’s an interview format and I found it a really helpful way of getting my head around. CBT, cognitive behavioural therapy which sounds really deep and scary, but it’s just common sense in a way, it’s that accountability that stepping back and just seeing things a little bit differently. So I think that’s quite a good book for you to start your journey on E CBT journeys. That’s my Book of the Week, and then into social media attack might come into the group, drop a conversation into the group on Facebook. Have a lovely day. I’d love to hear, which goal you’re gonna work towards in the next couple of weeks. So, comment on this post or wherever you feel appropriate, and let me know how you get on. I hope that’s helped. Have a fantastic day stay well speak to you next week. Bye. Hello again. Chris Gatton say, writer, and Coach.
